John Hope from Maghera, Derry, gave this name to his home on Koolunga Station. He arrived in 1839 and built Wolta Wolta in 1846. From a one-room cottage it developed into a substantial home. He is buried in the Anglican cemetery at Walkerville and his grave is topped by a celtic cross.
