Inchiquin

Description

The land and later Big House of E B Gleeson in Clare town was named after the barony in Ireland.

In 1859, Inchiquin was the home stay of Governor and Lady McDonnell on their visit to the mid north.

Gleeson grew wheat, barley, maize, potatoes and millet as well as raising sheep and cattle.

In more recent times it has been the home of the Lord Mayor of Clare.
